Welcome to your Confidence Catalyst newsletter, helping you speak up, step up and stand out.

It’s June.

Which means we’re almost halfway through the year.

And if you’re anything like many of the women I work with, you’re probably doing a quiet mental audit of the goals you set back in January.

The promotion you hoped would happen.

The business milestone you wanted to reach.

The confidence you thought you’d have by now.

The project that still isn’t finished.

The opportunities you haven’t quite created yet.

And despite everything you have achieved, your brain keeps pulling you towards the gap between where you are and where you thought you’d be.

I’ve seen this pattern so many times.

We set ambitious goals.

We work incredibly hard.

We make progress.

And then somehow our attention lands almost exclusively on what hasn’t happened yet.

Before long, we’re no longer evaluating our progress.

We’re evaluating ourselves.

We start making our results mean something about who we are.

Maybe I’m not good enough.

Maybe I’m behind.

Maybe everyone else is doing better than me.

Maybe I’m not cut out for this after all.

But what if the issue isn’t you?

What if it’s your strategy?

What if it’s your expectations?

What if you’re actually much closer than you think?

Let’s look at this through our usual three lenses.

Mindset: Direction Over Perfection

One of the most useful questions you can ask yourself at this point in the year is not:

“Have I achieved everything I planned?”

It’s:

“Am I moving in the right direction?”

Because progress is rarely linear.

Careers aren’t linear.

Businesses aren’t linear.

Life certainly isn’t linear.

Sometimes the biggest wins happen because of conversations you haven’t had yet, opportunities you can’t currently see, or lessons you needed to learn before the next step became possible.

Success isn’t built from perfect execution.

It’s built from consistent movement.

So instead of focusing solely on the destination, spend some time looking at your direction.

Are you still heading towards what matters?

Have your priorities changed?

Do your goals still fit the life and career you want?

Because direction matters far more than perfection.

Behaviour: Celebrate, Learn and Reprioritise

Many high achievers are brilliant at setting goals.

Far fewer are good at recognising progress.

Think about everything you’ve done already in the first half of this year.

The difficult conversations you’ve had.

The risks you’ve taken.

The skills you’ve developed.

The relationships you’ve built.

The challenges you’ve navigated.

The setbacks you’ve overcome.

The opportunities you’ve created.

None of those things happened by accident.

They happened because you showed up.

Before you jump straight into planning the next six months, pause long enough to acknowledge what you’ve already achieved.

Then ask yourself:

What worked?

What didn’t?

What have I learned?

What deserves more attention in the second half of the year?

What can I stop doing altogether?

Reflection isn’t about dwelling on the past.

It’s about making better decisions about the future.

Compassion: You Don’t Have To Do It Alone

One thing I’ve learned throughout my own career and building my business is that progress accelerates when we stop trying to figure everything out by ourselves.

Yet so manyof us carry an invisible belief that we should already know the answer.

That needing support somehow means we’re failing.

It doesn’t.

Every successful person I know has support.

Mentors.

Coaches.

Sponsors.

Peers.

People who help them think differently, challenge assumptions and navigate obstacles.

Support isn’t a sign of weakness.

It’s a strategy.

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed or uncertain about your next move, you don’t need to carry it all alone.

Sometimes the fastest way forward is inviting someone else into the conversation.

Final Thought

If you’re not exactly where you hoped you’d be by now, that doesn’t automatically mean you’re behind.

It might simply mean the journey looks different than you expected.

The first half of the year is not a verdict.

It’s data.

A chance to reflect.

To learn.

To adjust.

To recommit.

And to recognise just how far you’ve already come.

So before you focus on everything that’s left to do, take a moment to acknowledge everything you’ve already done.

You might be making more progress than you realise.

Have a great week ahead, and of course, you know where to find me if you could use some support.
