two things to do if you feel like you are not where you should be
Hi everyone, it's me Kirsteen with some Monday Motivation, and this week is especially for you, if you feel like you're not far enough forward or you're not where you think you should be at this point.
As we come into another quarter, the year is flying by. I'm sure that we all started with things that we wanted to achieve this year.
Whatever reason, things maybe not go to plan, and instead of getting stuck in that loop of I'm not where I should be:
I can't believe I'm not where I should be.
I should have done this
I should have done that
.....all the shoulds
We want to do two things and this is a really simple thing that I come back to time and time again, because I'm one of those people who's very impatient, and is always looking to be further forward than I am so the two things are, first of all, Accept where you are. Wherever you are accept it. Now you might be trying to get a new job. And you might be seeing all these people that are posting on LinkedIn saying, I start my new job next week, or you know all the good news and that can feel unsettling for you as least as you are for them. That can create a bit of a bit of uncertainty, more uncertainty for you. Will I ever get my job everybody around me is getting their job. That's one example. It might be that you've been trying to get a promotion for some time and that's not going to fund either, whatever it is, Accept where you are, and take a look at where you've come from and where you currently are and accept it. Because we are where we are because of choices that we've made along the way and that's fine.
Accept where you are
The next thing that we need to do is decide what's next. Ask yourself if I am where I am now. And this is where I want to be what's next and this is where you can really think about what is the best next step I can take or who could support me in my mission to achieve whatever it is.
What can I do that's going to make things feel easier?
What can I do that's gonna move me closer to where I want to be?
So those two things get you out of the unhelpful should loop, which is where we can sometimes find ourselves if we're unhappy with where we are and get into a more resourceful, progressive place in a place where we are going to continue to move forward and that always feels much better. So I hope you find that helpful. I'd love to know what you think. Have a brilliant rest of the week, and I'll talk to you soon.
Take care till next Monday
Kirsteen
