Three little shifts that make a big difference

What’s the most important thing we can master? Our self!

Part of personal mastery is self-awareness and being able to notice when we are stuck in a loop. Then we can make a shift to a better place, aligned to your vision.

I am going to share three small mindset shifts that can make a big difference to how you feel and what you experience.

1 Mindset

One of the most unhelpful places we can be is in a scarcity mindset.

  • A mindset of not enough.
  • I am not good enough
  • There is not enough time
  • I don’t have enough money
  • I am not smart enough

You get the point.

How often does this happen for you and what do you do about it?

Of course, you can programme yourself to think I am good enough and the opposite of all those thoughts.

It is better.

However, the antidote to lack is curiosity.

If you shift to a curious mindset, you are going to come up with a better-quality thought process which will lead to a better outcome.

There are studies that show life is better when we are curious.

Once you are aware that you are in a mindset of lack, make the shift to curiosity, you will be more present, and you will be amazed at what might open up for you. Most importantly, it feels so much better!

2 Reaction to Creation

The second shift I would like to share with you, is a shift I have been working on for the last couple of years, a shift from Reaction to Creation.

When you look at these two words, you will notice that they are the same letters, just organised differently.

Yet they create very different experiences.

For years, I was in reaction to everyone else’s agenda.

Part of my growth has been shifting into creation. Instead of trying to fit into someone else’s agenda, I have created my own context. For me, that is my own business, it might be different for you.

Being in creation means that you are owning your experiences and decisions and instead of just responding to what is going on around you, you are creating your experiences aligned with your vision, your context.

When you are in reaction, you can feel powerless, resentful, and other unhelpful emotions, yet in creation you are powerful, it is exciting you are in the driving seat.

The one thing we always get to choose in life is how we react. Where do you spend most of your time? Reaction or Creation? What would be different in your life if you made this shift today?

3 From perfection to progress

The third shift is shifting from perfection to progress.

As a self-confessed recovering perfectionist, this is an area I always need to check in on myself with.

Perfection is one of the lowest standards we can have for ourselves because it is unobtainable, so it makes sense to shift our expectation to progress rather than perfection.

Whenever you feel any of the above experiences, check your expectations

Are you looking for perfection or progress?

Always choose progress, you can achieve this, and you can celebrate your success, which feels good and will start to create momentum.

We are in full control of our thoughts and our mind, so we can make this shift, it will just take practise.

The first step is becoming aware of your thoughts. We can often be stuck in an unhelpful loop before we even notice what we are thinking.

Our mind is a powerful tool, and it can need directing, otherwise it can run riot and be unhelpful.

Power yourself up to be the best version of yourself by making these little shifts and then enjoy the difference they make.

I hope you find the idea of these three mindset shifts useful and are going to give them a try.

Please comment below, I would love to know what you think.

Our drive for perfection is the root of:

  • Imposter syndrome
  • Hesitation and delays in progress
  • Not doing something
  • Feeling like we are not good enough
